The Secret School (By AVI)

The Secret School is a great book (also a battle book) that won't let you stop reading! It's about a girl names Ida that loves school and is about to take her end-of-the-year exam to get into high school, but her teacher has to go away to help her mother. What will Ida do to go to high school? Will she have to wait til next year? Or just be the teacher herself secretly....

    ooh! Another to add to my list. I love Avi. I read True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle when I was in 5th grade and loved it. I also really enjoyed Crispin which received the Newbery Award (I think)
